Drink like a man

Not all of us can stomach Bourbon like Dino or martinis like 007, but we know we like our wine.

“Man Show” expat and comedic knucklehead Adam Carolla recently launched his own breed of cocktail dubbed Mangria, a fortified blend of California red wine and fruit juices that packs a significant punch at nearly 21 percent alcohol.

“As a nightly consumer of red wine, I was shocked one evening to find I had just half a glass left in the bottle. So I did what any decent alcoholic, ex-con, American would do… I went to the fridge and the liquor cabinet, then poured, mixed and measured. Thus Mangria was born,” says Carolla. I can see the women on trampolines bouncing around in his head now.

But I must admit, this stuff is delicious. It’s a lot like the sangria I make for parties with lots of orange and citrus flavors along side cherry-berry red wine goodness. And I guess my sangria is fortified, too, with Gran Marnier and apricot brandy. Only Mangria is ready to serve now and you don’t have to wait for the fresh fruit flavors to meld with the wine.

I can see serving Mangria at a barbecue or as an after-dinner drink. Chill it down or even serve over ice. $16, and only available by mail. Click here to order.

Burgers, brats, Mangria, what could be more manly than that?
