Dress up like Downton Abbey. Fashions from the Paris Spring 2013 Couture Shows (Photos)

Love the hit PBS Masterpiece Theater television series Downton Abbey, winner of so many awards that we don’t have the space to mention them all? Hey, even husbands like to follow the ups and downs of the upstairs aristocrats and the downstairs servants. There’s got to be a good reason that season three became the highest rated PBS drama of all time. Over 24 million viewers watched the third season. Wonder why? I don’t. I’ll tell you why…it’s a British COSTUME drama.

The Paris Couture Runway shows present the epitome of handcrafted, custom made high fashion. It’s interesting that so many of the top designer fashion houses in the world have referenced our beloved Downton Abbey.

When a couture dress takes 600 hours to create, there’s some serious sewing going on. These designs are not produced lightly. What better allusion than to our favorite TV series?
As you peruse the slideshow, try to visualize Lady Mary, Lady Edith or Lady Sybil in the dresses.

Ta ta for now! Must be off. It’s tea time!
