After what seemed to be the longest week ever, last Friday I disappeared into the Dorit Baxter Day Spa for an hour long swedish massage. The spa, just a block from Central Park, is quiet, calm and serene compared to the chaos below on 57th street.
Dorit Baxter Day Spa offers many treatments including deep tissue massages, herbal body wraps, dead sea salt scrubs, foot reflexology, facials and tanning. Their newest treatment available is the "BellyWorks Xpress Post-Pregnancy Slimming Session" which helps tone the abdomen.
My appointment was with Chin the masseuse. If it's humanly possible, Chin may have an extra set of hands that magically appear when he's giving a massages. I hadn't had a massage in months. My back was extremely tense with a million knots. After my hour long visit, I felt amazingly relaxed and knot free.
The Dorit Baxter Day Spa has clean changing rooms and bathrooms. Fresh water with lime in the waiting area. When I arrive I was given a soft waffle pattern robe to put on, foam booties, and a locker. Relaxing sounds and music play quietly through the facility. Prices are affordable and the convenience of going for just one treatment makes this spa perfect for a person who doesn't have a lot of time. The friendly staff and privacy is just what the doctor ordered. The best thing about Dorit Baxter Day Spa is it's simplicity. No pretentiousness and no unneeded extras.
This spa is great for couples, people with busy schedules, people with all the time in the world, teens, new mommies and even men (yes there are men services as well). This place is 4 stars all the way.
