Dog & Panther: 'Our Bodies' (2013)

"Our Bodies" by Dog & Panther is an eclectic Electro-Folk Pop piece.

The opening few tracks introduce us into a large and lush production- layers that at first may appear a little quirky are later taken more seriously as the listener realizes the structure is solid and remains tight. Found sounds such as crunches and pops accent synth keys- giving everything an organic sound that's executed with calculated precision. While many elements are quite different, Dog & Panther seems to bring to mind Flaming Lips- perhaps only in their unique innovations.

At the track "Something New" their sound takes a more sparse turn- with a simpler sound featuring lots of space- the wave this creates ripples across the next few songs, the new style sounding somewhat like a cleaner take on old Death Cab for Cutie songs. There is a strength in their sparseness- it makes their approach more intimate- this is especially exemplified in tracks like "Ferndale MI".
