Now appearing in your living room: The Lone Ranger; the movie is just as funny as in the theatre.
The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer, as the Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as Tonto. The pair survives some unbelievable yet incredibly exciting stunts, such as running on top of a train and jumping to safety when the train crashes all around them. It’s easy to understand why Tonto calls the last ranger a spirit walker.
In a film that touches on the unfair nature of businessmen who opened the West to travel by train from the East. The politics of the late 19th century are framed in a simplistic framework that glides over the heads of young children in the audience.
The Lone Ranger is everything any fan of the old TV show will like with the added benefit of 21st century special effects. The good guys are good, the bad guys are really bad and in the end good wins over evil. The story offers the realism of a busy brothel run by a jaded madam played by Helena Bonham Carter.
In spite of the humanness shown in the back story of the characters the Lone Ranger and his faithful friend Tonto meet expectations for modern heroes. They are flawed but triumph over their shortcomings to serve the community by putting the bad guys in their place.
