Disney is known for their infamous vault of films. For those that have been living in a vault themselves and do not know what it is, it’s where they store all their movies and periodically re-release them in various formats. This brilliant tradition has made Disney films not only maintain their classic feel and nature, but also keeps from watering down the market. These Blu-ray releases sport high definition with restored picture and sound, as well as numerous special features. The latest getting the treatment is the 2004 Easter special Winnie the Pooh: Springtime With Roo.
This film follows an overexcited Roo, along with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore, pay Rabbit a visit to celebrate Easter, but instead of finding an Easter party they find a Spring Cleaning day celebration. Rabbit refuses to celebrate Easter and a very disappointed Roo tries to cheer him up. How can they celebrate Easter without the Easter Bunny? While this is an Easter film, the story is actually an adaptation of A Christmas Carol. The animation keeps the classic designs of the characters while using the more current style animation. This is one of those animated films that are geared towards the younger audiences to not only entertain, but also to teach lessons and positive messages. There isn’t anything here that hasn’t been done in just about every other Pooh adventure, but somehow still works. If you are a fan of Winnie the Pooh and friends then you will no doubt enjoy this one as well.
This special edition Blu-ray release is one of the more streamlined releases featuring the high-def transfer of the film and the “Get Up and Dance’ special feature. No Winnie the Pooh collection will be complete without Winnie the Pooh: Springtime With Roo so be sure to grab your copy available now.
