Disney is known for their infamous vault of films. For those that have been living in a vault themselves and do not know what it is, it’s where they store all their movies and periodically re-release them in various formats. This brilliant tradition has made Disney films not only maintain their classic feel and nature, but also keeps from watering down the market. These Blu-ray releases sport high definition with restored picture and sound, as well as numerous special features. The latest getting the treatment is the 2002 holiday adventures of everyone’s favorite Pooh Bear with Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year.
This holiday special film is actually a mix of two films. When the new film Happy Pooh Year was released they took the 1991 Christmas TV special and edited it together to create this new holiday classic. Now you can enjoy both of these fun adventures together as one film that delivers all the Hundred Acre wood fans have come to love. The animation is beautiful as always, especially with the high def transfer. As with every Pooh story they always offer great messages for kids while being fun and frustrating thanks to the somewhat bobble headed Pooh bear. The two films mesh together as though they weren’t meant to be that way and you could never tell it apart. All the favorites return with the exception of Owl who is mysteriously absent from this story. Despite the Owl omission the rest of the characters are here in all their glory having both and good times delivering a fun filled adventure like only they can.
This special edition Blu-ray release not only includes a high-def transfer of the film but also numerous featurettes including Sing Along, Disney Song Selection, Enchanted Environment and Disney Intermission where the film comes to life while paused for even more entertainment. No Winnie the Pooh collection will be complete without Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year so be sure to grab your copy when it hits stores on November 5th.
