Discover Exorbitance, New Jersey's best kept secret

New Jersey might not be known as the metal capital of the world but, we have a few names to proud of; such as Overkill, Symphony X and Evoken, in addition to famed punks The Misfits. After today, you will have one more in Exorbitance.

Exorbitance is a melodic death metal band who's sound comes more from Scandinavia than the Dunellen, Woodbridge and Staten Island area that their members call home. On their new album "In this Nightmare" the band takes influence from the Gothenberg sounds of the mid to late 90's and performs it in a way that sounds rather fresh and professional. The guitar work from Andrew Pevny and Devin DeCicco include fast riffs and harmonic lines that melodeath is known for while drummer James Applegate and bassist Chris DeBenedetto give the low end a very thick and metallic feel. Vocalist Glenn Ferguson reminds me of a more refined version of The Black Dahlia Murder frontman Trevor Strnad.
