Let's get this straight the first time around, CHEFS LOVE TO SEE DINNER PLATES and silverware dancing on stage!
Chef Stormy and I recently had the wonderful, wonderful, wonderful opportunity to see Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jr. as portrayed Friday night, August 5th at 7:00 pm. We have a ten month old baby girl and I am just now coming into understanding the whole Beauty and the Beast show concept - but Chef Stormy is very well versed in it. Her heroine is Belle!
Portrayed by Claire Lemke at the impACT Theatre of gastonia and Piedmont Community Charter School, she sang and dazzled the audience as well as the BEAST, Ryan Dever. Later, the Prince would reappear as Shane McCormick.
Now let's get to the good stuff!!! Knives, forks, spoons and dinner plates came to life! They danced all over the stage and our smiles were from ear to ear. I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed these kids singing and acting.
The steal of the show was, "Chip," the son of Mrs. Potts - can we say encore and run this play again!? Mrs. Potts appears as a full sized teapot pushing her son around as a chipped tea cup (yes his name is Chip). How adorable and cute they are together. At night, Mrs. Potts puts her son to sleep on the cupboard. Once the beast is free and becomes the prince again, all of the cast trapped inside of the castle come back to life. And that meant Chip could sleep in his bed again!
Mrs. Potts was portrayed by Lexi Karabatsos and Chip by Blaise Shiver.
If you are looking to make a terrific impACT on your children then be sure to enroll them into impACT (http://www.impacttheatreofgastonia.com) with Directors Sarah Buckner and Tiffany Carper. Jay Oden did a superb job as Music Director. Beauty and the Beast is a part of the Broadway Junior Collection.
A major sponsor for the theatre was Tequila's of Gastonia www.tequilasgastonia.com
