My love of all things Atlantean and Lemurian is no secret to the readers of this column, so you can imagine my excitement at meeting Jack Churchward, author of Lifting the Veil on the Lost Continent of Mu, at the 2011 Transformations Conference sponsored by Ozark Mountain Publishing. I’ve heard Jack speak about Lemuria twice now, and his talks, as well as his book, are like enjoying a satisfying, delicious meal of your favorite foods. Let me tell you about Lifting the Veil:

What Jack has done here is to take a book about Mu that was originally written by his Great-Grandfather, James Churchward, in 1926, closely examine the evidence, identify sources, and evaluate the research materials used in the original volume, and add his own panache to the mix. Obviously, any book that claims that Mu exists creates controversy no matter what decade it’s published, and James Churchward came under a great deal of scrutiny when he wrote this book in the twenties. And now his Great-Grandson, using analytical skills honed over thirty years in the Aerospace and Defense industry, has supplied reaseach and bonus material that allows us a much more complete understanding of the existence and demise of Lemuria.

Lifting the Veil is laid out in an interesting way: The original text from James Churchward is all here for us, and under that, on each page, is the added material from Jack. It’s important to keep in mind that this is not a fantasy book or a book of tales. This is a scientific look at Mu that examines hard evidence and discusses many aspects related to the lost continent, including (but certainly not limited to)…

  • The creation of humankind in Mu (think Garden of Eden here).
  • Mu’s relationship to other cultures, such as the Egyptians, Greeks, Hindus, Chaldeans, Persians and Babylonians.
  • The Naacal tablets—what they are and why they’re so important.
  • Mu’s sacred mysteries, rites and ceremonies.
  • How this advanced civilization fell and what happened to it.

I loved this book, and my personal feeling is that anyone with a true interest in Mu will also love and cherish this book. Lifting the Veil is as large as a coffee table book, and a steal at $19.00 (plus, it's currently on sale!). You can find it at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, and OzarkMt.com.
