Last night at Shriekfest the last feature of the night was the horror/thriller Devoured.
"Devoured", shot in New York City, stars Marta Milans as Lourdes.
Lourdes is working at a New York restaurant to send money home to her mother in order to pay for a life-saving operation.
As you watch Lourdes cooking up and serving mouth watering dishes you could almost take it as a social commentary on the plight of undocummented aliens in the U.S. but it takes a decidedly dark twist.
Lourdes is haunted by images, reflections, shadows, and progressively stalked then hunted by creatures of the dark.
"Devoured" will get your salivary glands flowing when you aren't scratching your head or jumping out of your seat.
Is Lourdes a victim? grieving mother? the target of a twisted stalker? Are the monsters real?
"Devoured" is a masterpiece for a seasoned writer/producer and even more amazing as it is Marc Landau's first!
"Devoured" has strong language, violence, and adult content but for fan's of the genre, it is a must see and catch it in a theater if you can. With luck it will include recipes when it comes out on DVD.
There's more film fun this weekend at Shriefest starting at noon today and going through the awards ceremony on Sunday!
