If you’ve never had a “Dessert Night Out”, it’s time to truly satisfy your sweet tooth. Instead of only getting one choice for dessert, grab a couple of friends and head on over to these tasty dessert havens and prepare to indulge yourselves. The idea is to order 6-8 desserts and let everyone sample from the plates, allowing you to taste more than one dessert, which is something you usually don’t get to do.

Green Earth Vegan Cuisine offers heavenly carrot cake, chocolate cake, almond chocolate cake, cheesecake, chocolate cheesecake, green tea cheesecake and Thai banana rolls with ice cream ($4.50 to $5.95). All of these are made without dairy products, but you’d never know by their rich flavor. Green Earth Vegan Cuisine is located at 37 S. Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena CA 91105, tel# (626) 584-0268. They’re open Sunday-Thursday from 11:30am-9pm, and Fri-Sat 11:30am-10pm. To read the complete menu, visit the website at

Houston's serves one of my all time favorite desserts in Pasadena, the warm five-nut brownie accompanied by a tureen of hot fudge sauce. They also offer apple walnut cobbler; a traditional hot fudge sundae, or their scrumptious key-lime pie ($8). Houston's, located at 320 S. Arroyo Parkway, Pasadena, CA 91101, is open Monday through Sunday from 11am to 10pm. There is limited parking on the premises, as well as additional parking in a lot off Del Mar Blvd., which is available after 7pm for their patrons. They have a large area that is specified for all their walk-in customers, but you can also make reservations by calling 626-577-6001 or by visiting the website at
