Deplin is considered as a dietary supplement that targets people with varying degrees of depression. It is L-methylfolate, and is prescribed to augment other treatment for major depressive disorder. Deplin works through a natural process in the brain to manage the monoamines associated with mood. L-methylfolate is the active form of folate, which your body metabolizes from folic acid.
The product is manufactured by Pamlab and according to the maker of Deplin, it is a prescription vitamin used to increase the effectiveness of antidepressant and antipsychotic medications. Specifically, Deplin helps increase folate levels in people with depression and decrease homocysteine levels in people with schizophrenia.

Ingredients in Deplin
Deplin includes the following ingredients:

L-methylfolate [6(S)-5-MTHF](Metafolin), Dibasic Calcium Phosphate Dihydrate, Silicified Microcrystalline Cellulose 90,Silicified Microcrystalline Cellulose HD90, Opardy ll Blue85F90748 (Polyvinyl Alcohol, Titanium Dioxide, PEG 3350, Talc and FD&C Blue #2), Magnesium Stearate (Vegetable Source), and carnauba wax.

How Does Deplin Work?
Deplin works by using a natural process within the body to develop more of the neurotransmitters that may be lacking. Additional neurotransmitters such as serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine enable the antidepressant you may be taking to be more effective. Deplin contains 7.5 mg of L-methylfolate, the only active form of folate that can cross the blood brain barrier. Normalizing neurotransmitters, serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine enables your antidepressant to work better.
