If you haven't heard of Delivered With Love by Sherry Kyle, then you should. This book caught my eye on first glance. The second I saw the cover, I felt like it would be super amazing - and boy was it ever!
The story starts out with two sisters, Claire and Hailey, who have just lost their mother to cancer. Claire was very close to her and had taken care of her all throughout the sickness. As the pain grips her at the memorial, she sits down in the 1972 Volkswagen she just inherited from her mother in order to try to get away from the intensity of it all. But in the glove-box she finds a letter that would lead her on an unexpected journey and change her life forever. Leaving Los Angeles after getting fired from her job and kicked out of her sister's house, she ends up in Capitola, California. That small town ends up having a great effect on her, changing her life for good. The rest you'll just have to read in the book!
This is such a great book that I read through the whole thing in less than 24 hours! It's Sherry's debut fiction novel, but you sure couldn't tell. She is definitely gifted in writing, for sure. The way she intertwines the characters together is genius and keeps you guessing, but never guessing the right scenario! It was such a joy to read. There were some annoying moments with the characters being so idiotic at the time that you wish that you could smack them. But those parts were really well-written along with everything else. There really isn't anything bad one could say about this – in fact, it's one of the best novels this examiner has read in a little while! Definitely the best so far for 2012. I heartily recommend it!
Actually, to be honest, there is one bad thing about it: it was tragically sad when it ended because I just wanted the story to keep going on and on! Delivered With Love
is published by Abingdon and is out now, so go check it out!
