Delicious food comes right off the hot griddle at Mother’s Cupboard (Photos)

Mother’s Cupboard Diner and Fish Fry is located off the beaten path in East Syracuse in an oversized, but not overly large, red shack. Inside is your usual diner counter on one side and tables down the other. There are no booths at Mother’s Cupboard; there isn’t any room for them.

The menu is limited, and geared mainly to breakfast, but there are a number of entrees for lunch. The prices are extremely reasonable, particularly considering some of the portions. Be forewarned: bring your cash; Mother’s Cupboard will not take your Visa or American Express.

I ordered the half-frittata and it filled an entire dinner plate. My dining partner ordered a sandwich which was nothing special, but good eating nonetheless. The Frittata was delicious ,with mostly home fries, some egg, some broccoli, and plenty of pepperoni and sausage.

Mother’s Cupboard was featured on the Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food show. The star of the show, Adam Richman took the Frittata Challenge, which is to eat a frittata full order. Any diner who completes the Frittata Challenge gets his or her picture taken for a framed collage of other Frittata Challengers.

I heartily recommend the Frittata and the breakfast fare at Mother’s. The service is good and friendly and you can't beat the prices for all that you get. Mother's Cupboard hours are 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every day and there are daily specials.
