Teen Titans # 1

No matter how many times the Teen Titans get a series it seems to eventually get canceled or rebooted and it is time for it again. This time around the Red Robin, Wonder Girl, Raven, Bunker and Beast Boy step out of the shadows of the adult heroes of the DC Universe to offer bold, exciting and sometime dangerous ideas on how to protect a world full of superpowered teenagers – any one of whom could be the next heroic figure or major villain!

This latest incarnation brings not only a new series but of course a new creative team of Will Pfeifer and Kenneth Rocafort. This issue doesn’t waste a lot of time with origins or bringing them back together, but instead thrusts them right in the action against a new foe. What is different is that instead of the usual team action it is a more coordinated military type strike with each of them doing their own thing under the direction of Red Robin and stepping them up as a more cohesive team than ever before. This action packed issue not only showcases the Titans doing their thing but also sets up this new villain and the direction of the series. Rocafort’s art fits perfectly for these characters bringing a great dynamic style to the series that is sure to get better with every issue.

This is a great entry into the new direction of the Titans and could finally be the one that steps them away from being the young ex-sidekicks and finally the stand alone heroes they are. No matter where the series is heading the Titans always deliver and with this creative team behind them it has the chance to be the best yet.
