Superman A Celebration of 75 Years

No other superhero in the world has had the impact of Superman. He has appeared in not only comics, but numerous animated series, live action films, books, video games, toys and pretty much anything else you could name. This year marked the 75th anniversary of the Man of Steel and DC has been pulling out all the stops. With not only the release of the mega hit Man of Steel, but also they have had a nationwide tour of the various suits used in the live action adaptations. Now they are releasing the essential Superman collection with the latest graphic novel Superman: A Celebration of 75 Years.

While this collection brings together some of the most important issues in the history of Superman, the book plays more like a history book taking the reader on a journey through the past 75 years of the character. Randomly throughout the book it features chapter lead ins dealing with that particular time and change of the character followed by issues that were important for that particular generation and evolution of where it has come to today. It does a great job of taking the reader along in more of a documentary instead of just a straight comic. Giving you all the information you need or could have wondered to bring you up to speed on every important event or issue that has helped to shape Superman for these last 75 years. Included in this collection are stories from ACTION COMICS #0, 1-2, 137, 242, 544, 775 and 900, ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #498, Mythology: The DC Comics Art of Alex Ross, SUPERMAN #11, 17, 53, 75, 76, 141, 149, 247 and 400, SUPERMAN ANNUAL #11 and a 1940 story from LOOK MAGAZINE making this a must have for any hardcore Superman fan.

After 75 Years you would think a character would have run its course, but much like Superman himself there is no stopping him and looks to be around for a long time. While fans have a while to wait until the next feature film, this collection along with the monthly titles deliver each month should be more than enough to get fans their dose of their favorite Kryptonian.

Be sure to grab your copy of Superman: A Celebration of 75 Years in stores now.
