Sinestro # 1

After the events of Forever Evil everything in the DC Universe has changed. Of all the villains no one has deserved their own series more than Green Lantern’s foe Sinestro and finally he is. Creators Dale Eaglesham and Cullen Bunn bring the Yellow Lantern himself to his own monthly series with the aptly titled Sinestro # 1.

In this issue Thaal Sinestro has lost everything he’s ever loved, but no matter how desperate he becomes, he will never be without fear...a lesson his one-time ally, one-time enemy Lyssa Drak is eager to teach him! Can he take back the despicable Yellow Lantern Corps or does the universe have a new destiny in mind for Sinestro? This issue introduces us to a different kind of Sinsetro, one that doesn’t initially look to want to destroy or take over anything, but instead one that just wants to be left alone. This alone makes for an interesting direction for the character, but with the return of Lyssa Drak things are about to change back to some familiar territory, but not without ramifications. At the same time it takes a sneak peek at his back story again that leads into the world he left behind when he left his Yellow Lanterns without a leader. The artwork from Eaglesham looks great bringing a modern style that gives both Sinestro and the world around him a dark tone. While this issue is looking to set up this new direction for the character it still brings some action along for the ride that comes off great thanks to his work.

Green Lantern fans will no doubt be clamoring to see where Sinestro’s world is going and if this issue is any indication it’s going to be on hell of a ride. Prepare for the return, so use your fear to charge your ring and grab your copy of Sinestro # 1.
