Robin Rises Omega # 1

One of the biggest shocks in the DC Universe came with the death of Damian Wayne. Not only did it seemingly kill off a popular character from the Bat-universe it sent Batman spiraling out of control and thrust a wedge between the other members of the Bat-family. With Batman’s recent quest to bring Damian back to life gave fans the possible hope they were waiting for with his possible return and now the event has begun with Robin Rises Omega # 1.

In the issue the hunt for Robin is over, and the battle joined, but Batman’s family feud with Ra’s al Ghul is about to erupt into something bigger when it’s interrupted by the forces of Apokolips! This is the perfect issue to not only kick off this story arc, but also is crafted with a great recap of everything that led up to that point. Seeing Andy Kubert’s art recreate all these iconic moments from other artists is worth the whole issue and that is just the first 7 pages. The rest of the issue is just as good, but plays out as one long action sequence setting up the direction this story is heading. Kubert’s art is as awesome throughout as ever and perfect for this story. The layout has a classic feel, but showcases some dynamic panels and features two awesome splash pages.

As if this issue wasn’t already great with Tomasi’s great story and Kubert’s always amaxing art it also showcases tons of action and appearances by the Justice League getting in on the action making a great start to what is sure to be an epic storyline.
