With DC Comics much talked about New 52 re-launch there were some surprising changes to the looks of characters and their stories. None more so than the flagship title Justice League. With an all new look that sparked much controversy throughout the fans it took a big chance trying to reinvent the wheel. Now they have brought together issues 7-12 in an all-new hardcover collected edition featuring art from Jim Lee, David Finch, Ethan Van Sciver and more.
With the first six issues we were taken back to the origins of the New 52 Justice League, but now we jump ahead to present day with a new threat and the arrival of Green Arrow to throw his hat into the mix for membership. Much like the original series Lee and the rest of the crew deliver some amazing art to coincide with the great story taking this new Justice League series to a whole new level. Now that they have put the origins to rest readers are able to dive right into the adventure that makes for another good starting point, but also a bit confusing at first. If you pay close attention then it’s easy to follow, but if you are one that likes to skip a bit here and there then you may find yourself having to go back to figure out what you missed between issue 6 and 7. The way this story is formatted makes it easier to move along into the more recognizable version of the team as well as bring in more members, but still deliver the story of Green Arrow and his quest to join as well. While it would have been more fun to stick with the early version of the team and watch them build up to the team they are today this still manages to deliver a great story. Of course they will most likely jump into the past from time to time to get more of the stories, but they’ve moved no therefore you need to be prepared to as well. Have no fear these issues wrap up a bit of the story while still bringing in some new mysteries and questions that are sure to continue taking the Justice League to new levels.
Filled with a great story, beautiful artwork and some epic splash pages Justice League is a must read for any fan of the DC Universe. This awesome new take on this legendary team of heroes sports a collection of the various variant covers featuring art from Jim Lee, Gary Frank, Mike Choi and more. Looking for a great Justice League book? Look no further and get out there and pick up the individual issues as well as Justice League Vol. 2: The Villains Journey on sale in January.
