One of the more unique series to come out of the New 52 was the return of Earth 2. This series allows creators to do some fun new things with the characters without messing with their normal continuity. This series has been delivering some really cool arcs and shows no sign of slowing down with Earth 2 # 18.
In the latest issue the new Batman of Earth 2 tries to turn the tide in the war against the forces of Darkseid and Apokolips, but even as new allies reveal themselves the planet trembles before its new rulers. As with every issue of this series it continues to deliver some great alternate reality stories. This latest issue gives fans a more awesomeness of the latest incarnation of the Dark Knight as well as the darker Superman making for a great chance to see everyone’s favorite heroes like never before. The story line has been good from the beginning with this latest issue being no different, but the dark additions of these two icons take it to a whole new level. Tom Taylor’s writing continues to make for some of the best in comics, giving these characters new life without messing with the continuity of the regular books. Nicola Scott’s artwork is as great as ever bringing the story to vibrant life with the attention to detail amazing in not just the splash pages, but the small important boxes of the story as well. There are constant surprises in this series and this issue is no different. Thankfully this is a universe that clearly holds a lot more secrets that will keep this series consistently fresh.
If you haven’t checked out this series you are really missing out. In addition to this already cool book this issue also sports a cool Earth 2 Superman from superstar artist Ethan Van Sciver that makes it worth adding to your collection alone.
