While DC Comics most popular characters have been the trinity of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman for years their extensive libvrary of characters continue to bring just as much to their universe than ever before. The latest original graphic novel brings two of these popular heroines to the forefront with Black Canary and Zatana: Bloodspell from creators Joe Quinones and Paul Dini.

In the graphic novel Canary and Zatana join forces to combat a deadly new threat, a chilling supernatural foe that preys on their weaknesses and unleashes their powers against each other. This is one of those standalone stories that not only gives fans a chance to have some fun with their favorite characters, but also brings some more background to the forefront. It features both modern and classic variations of the characters as it jumps through time while still keeping a cohesive story going. Dini has a knack for these female characters and does a great job keeping this story action packed and light hearted throughout without making any of it feel silly. This is a fun old school superhero story that manages to deliver everything you could want with the characters and in the medium in both the writing and the artwork. The characters here sport some great chemistry the way this story has been crafted and even take jabs at each other regarding their past, wardrobe and more making it an overall just really fun read.

Whether you are a fan of these characters or not this is a fun and action packed original graphic novel that is sure to please. In addition to the story itself this book also features various awesome character sketches, pages of script side by side with the pencil art taking the reader behind the scenes to the making of this book.
