Batman Eternal # 3

A gang war erupts in Gotham City, but the G.C.P.D. doesn’t plan to help Batman stop it. Plus: The return of a fan-favorite Batman supporting character: Stephanie Brown! One of the best new Batman series out there continues with Batman Eternal # 3 from creators Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Jason Fabok. In this issue a gang war erupts in Gotham City, but the G.C.P.D. doesn’t plan to help Batman stop it.

Once again this creative team delivers another great issue as this first story arc continues to build. This issue once again focuses on the character development to build the mystery to further push this story. What makes it work so well is that they aren’t trying to rush it as most comics do. This issue brings in a circle of new players to the fold and showcases a behind the scenes look at them trying to plan their escapades, but the most intriguing aspect is that of them being forced to deal with their personal lives and villain lives clashing with dire consequences. Fabok’s artwork continues to impress bringing both the little bit of action as well as all the drama to life. His attention to detail in the characters expressions as well as the background gives the story more life than a lot of the comics out there. The details he brings to every issue gives a sense of realism to the universe that helps to take the story to another level.

This series takes an intelligent direction of letting the detective do his work and all the players slowly come into motion as opposed to just forcing the action right on you. The story and art alone make this series worth checking out but with an appearance from The Penguin, Cluemaster, Lock Up, and more it is sure to please any Batfan out there.
