Batman A Celebration of 75 Years

Besides Superman there has been no other superhero in the world that has had the impact of Batman. He has appeared in not only comics, but numerous animated series, live action films, books, video games, toys and pretty much anything else you could name. This year marked the 75th anniversary of the Dark Knight detective and DC has been pulling out all the stops with the in production film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the new Warner Brothers Batman display. Now they are releasing the essential Batman collection with the latest graphic novel Batman: A Celebration of 75 Years.

While this collection brings together some of the most important issues in the history of Batman, the book plays more like a history book taking the reader on a journey through the past 75 years of the character. Randomly throughout the book it features chapter lead in’s dealing with that particular time and change of the character followed by issues that were important for that particular generation and evolution of where it has come to today. It does a great job of taking the reader along in more of a documentary instead of just a straight comic. Giving you all the information you need or could have wondered to bring you up to speed on every important event or issue that has helped to shape Batman for these last 75 years. Included in this collection are stories from DETECTIVE COMICS #27, 83, 211, 216, 327, 359, 395, 442, 474, 574, 633, 711, 757 and 821, BATMAN #1, 49, 181, 497, BATMAN #2 (THE NEW 52), WORLD’S FINEST COMICS #94, DC SPECIAL SERIES #21 and BATMAN SPECIAL #1 making this a must have for any hardcore Batman fan.

After 75 Years you would think a character would have run its course, but much like Batman himself there is no stopping him and looks to be around for a long time. While fans have a while to wait until Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, this collection along with the monthly titles delivered each month should be more than enough to get fans their dose of the Dark Knight.
Be sure to grab your copy of Batman: A Celebration of 75 Years in stores now.
