If you often find yourself in Center City Philadelphia and you’ve never been to Day by Day for lunch or brunch, add this to your bucket list right away.
At 2101 Sansom Street, Day by Day has been a Philly staple for many years. Their extensive specials board is in a constant state of evolution, pinching the freshest seasonal ingredients and giving them a rotating spotlight. Farro is mixed with roasted cauliflower one day and ricotta is baked into challah french toast the next, and nothing falls short of wholesome and delectable.
Baked goods are made fresh in house every morning and displayed up front in an old fashioned glass case under the register, where a mob of local diners can drool over them as they wait for seating at peak hours.
At Day by Day you’ll find brunch standards like quiche, eggs benedict, and pancakes - always with a unique gastronomic twist. Likewise for lunch, you’ll have the option of burgers and sandwiches alongside some rarer creatures like kale, shitake mushroom, and butternut squash turnovers.
Don’t come to Day by Day for a drinking brunch, however – the diner doesn’t serve alcohol. They do cater events, and have been serving private and corporate clients since 1981. Show up early to dine in; Day by Day’s popularity will often cause extensive wait lists.
