Dave Stryker: Eight Track

If you can remember the 8 track tape player or if you owned an 8 track tape player, you have been around the block a few times. The 8 track is long gone, but the music that came out of it lives on. The latest project titled Dave Stryker: Eight Track goes back in time with some songs that were top hits back in the 70's. Stryker and the band provide some funk, soul and edge to the songs on the album.

The band pays homage to Curtis Mayfield with their version of one of his biggest hits Pusherman/Superfly that were from the movie soundtrack Superfly. Stryker plays guitar, Stefon Harris plays vibraphone, Jared Gold on organ and McClenty Hunter on drums. If nothing else, this CD provides some good musical nostalgia with diverse recordings such as: Never My Love, Wichita Lineman, Aquarius, Make It With You and Never Say Goodbye among others.

This album will have you humming along and adding your own lyrics to these instrumental songs. If you were around in the 70's, these songs were staples on the radio and are some of the best classics of all time. Dave Stryker and the band have a hit on their hands. If you long for how music used to be, this is the album for you. We can't bring back those times, but we can relive the music. Bravo to Dave Stryker and keep on keepin on.
