The creative team of artist Tom Mandrake (Grimjack, The Spectre), writer Joseph Maddrey (Nightmares in Red, White and Blue: The Evolution of the American Horror Film), and acting icon Lance Henriksen return to deliver an all-new issue of the supernatural Dark Horse series To Hell You Ride.
To Hell You Ride follows a deadly curse plaguing a small town, melting the flesh from its victims--the violent revenge four warriors set in motion when their sacred burial grounds were disturbed for the sake of gold miners’ greed! In issue 3, our drunken hero recalls the stories that cursed the land, while nearby the casual and well off bath in blood. Once again this series continues to impress with telling a story with some deep impact with very little dialogue. Make no mistake, the dialogue is there when necessary but is mostly secluded to just the story boxes and visuals. Mandrake’s art continues to deliver the powerful message needed to make this series work, but also seems to be growing ever better with each issue. Where the first couple of issues seemed a bit rough with his old school style, this latest one doesn’t veer away from what makes his work so beautiful, but seems to be getting even cleaner. The story seems like it is all over the place, but when you read the issues together focusing on the message it all comes together showcasing a truly brilliant modern day Native American supernatural tale like no other.
