Over the years Dark Horse has been keeping the Star Wars Universe alive in the world of comics delivering stories across a wide spectrum of the world created by George Lucas.
Once again they deliver another addition to their ever growing archive of Star Wars titles with Star Wars: Legacy volume 2 # 1 from creators Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman.
Star Wars: Legacy follows Ania Solo trying to make her way through a galaxy gone wrong, but when she comes in possession of a lightsaber and an imperial communications droid things get worse when she discovers she has is a target for death. This latest volume of the Legacy series takes place in the aftermath of the Legacy: War mini-series from 2010/2011. The story here is pretty simple, but still has a lot going on trying set everything in place to move this story forward. There isn’t a whole lot of background for any one character, but instead just a wide variety of introductions to understand who the focal point is going to be for this new series. It’s interesting the directions they continue to take the decedents of the original trilogy heroes. If nothing else these series continue to expand the universe and give fans a glimpse into other worlds but keep a familiar name in the mix. This story has potential to go in an interesting direction but right now where that is going to be remains a mystery. The art work is a bit raw for a Star Wars book, but works well for the various planets and places they go. It does lose something for the ships and space aspects as those work better with a crisp style to give it contrast to the worlds below.
This is a decent addition to the Star Wars universe and will no doubt take it in directions that most will never expect. The previous Legacy series was able to do so many cool things thanks to the time period they used and sure that it will continue in this series as well.
