Well with the the whiff of spring approaching in the air on ABC TV Primetime, the mirror-ball trophy race is so on! Yes it's true, early Tuesday live on ABC's GMA, Dancing With the Stars announced the 11 castmembers and professional partners who've signed on for the 16th cycle during Tuesday's Good Morning America. Noteworthy participants, ah.... wearing name tags so we know who they are.
Included this season are a member of the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team's "Fierce Five," Olympians Aly Raisman and 70's Olympic skater Dorothy Hamill. A Super Bowl winner Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones, and the series' first, 12th or was it 13th placer American Idol alum singer Kellie Pickler, who's most recent media attention was shaving her head. Hopefully they click with the die hards, so the series won't be renamed, Dancing with Strangers.
But there are other hot additions, wearing name tags so we know who they are. Boxer Victor Ortiz, whom dance pro Lindsay Arnold will knock out on the dance floor. Also 80's country singer the always pissy especially before eating, the full figured, ok fat, Wynonna Judd. And recently out of a coma, General Hospital star Ingo Rademacher.Who won't be actually dancing because his legs are paralyzed due to a nuclear plant explosion, that killed his evil twin...it's true watch General Hospital.
Disney actress Zendaya Coleman of 'Shake It Up',not only the show but hopefully her career, also ex-addict and sitcom actor the abnoxious Andy Dick, who's predicted to get kicked off show 1,for trying to out gay judge Bruno. Also competing is Real Housewife of err...some where, Lisa Vanderpump, and ex-sitcom comedian D.L. Hughley...who will waste everybody's time wise cracking to over compensate the fact that he's jealous of the white people competing and can't dance and will finally will get voted out and storm off the dance floor in a huff.
ABC also took the opportunity to announce the castmembers' professional partners and wisely several Dancing With the Stars main stay fixtures are not among them...after seeing the left footed, diva star studded rundown . Pros that are sitting the season out include: Anna Trebunskaya, Chelsie Hightower, Louis van Amstel and, perhaps most surprisingly, hold on ladies your heart will skip a beat on this announcement, the shirt less Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
It's true DWTS without Maksim? But you females who'll cry out after reading this, that can't be, he was the heart of that show. Sure Derrick Hough takes his shirt off but he's the Justin Bieber of the show. Maksim's a real man, we won't have an interest watching it anymore. DWTS just won't be the same without him and his incredible legwork, like last season wrapped around Kelly Monaco.
Fortunately there's three new pros, Sharna Burgess ,Gleb Savchenko and Lindsay Arnold, join returning dancers,Tristan MacManus, Karina Smirnoff, Derek Hough, Kym Johnson, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Cheryl Burke, Mark Ballas, and reigning champ Tony Dovolani. Who nabbed his first mirror-ball trophy during the All-Stars season with Melissa Rycroft.
Country singer Wynonna Judd says her sister Ashley Judd was pretty shocked to hear she was joining the show, saying openly that she going to have a blast! Since Wynonna dances all the time.
Pro Derek Hough reveals to us he also considered not returning because of his other projects, like a ballroom dancing drama for Starz with sister Julianne, but says,he likes things like this coming up, going on to say that he din't want to wuss out. I can do both that and DWTS. His partner Kellie Pickler isn't worried about Derek's multitasking, telling him, saying that she believes in him.
So assigned to each of the new castmembers are:
•Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess• Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough• Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas• Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko• Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold• Dorothy Hamill and Tristan MacManus• Wynonna Judd and Tony Dovolani• Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson• Zendaya Coleman and Valentin Chmerkovskiy• Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff• D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke.
This show obviously has a lot of competitors who know how to stage a comeback, because DWTS is attempting one as well since ratings are down, and a recent All-Star season failed to inject new life into the series. So get ready, the ratings race for Dancing With The Stars is so on!
