Hungry for some good ol' European-American food? Marta's European-American Food on 800 E 222nd St. in Euclid Ohio is the place to go.
The lowdown...
Marta's serves American and European food, specifically Czechoslovakian. The menu itself has a good variety of both types of cooking. The selection of Czechoslovakian inspired meals include chicken paprikash, sauerbraten, and pierogi served with a helping of spaetzel or Czech dumplings.
Not a fan? Marta's offers gourmet burgers and sandwiches including a build your own burger, charbroiled chicken and a BLT sandwich. Dessert is also offered including strudel, palacinka (crepes), or vanilla ice cream.
Marta's offers a specialty of the day and if you are a big seafood fan than go to Marta's on Friday for their fish fry that is only available on that day. A big plus is the option for carryout.
The food is good but what about the price? The price is very reasonable and you will not go hungry either. You are more likely to go home with a doggy bag than finish your plate. A group of people (around four to six) could very well eat for around $60-$70.
The service is friendly. You feel welcomed as you walk in. The atmosphere itself is relaxing. You will feel right at home at Marta's.
The downsides...
The downside to Marta's are small. The décor could be updated, but it does not take away from the experience and the quality of food and service. Another downside is the kids menu. It is small with only one option: Grilled cheese sandwich and fries.
One last downside is that Marta's operation of hours is only for dinner services (4-9 weekdays and 4-10 weekends). Therefore, those of you hoping for a luncheon with friends will have to look elsewhere.
Despite its décor, short hours, and incredibly small kids menu, Marta's still has much to offer. For those of you looking for authentic European food for a great price and hearty portions, Marta's will have you coming back for more and leaving with some too!
