Cut Copy Plays to Enthusiastic Crowd at First Ave

As expected, Cut Copy's Saturday night show at First Avenue sold out shortly after doors opened.  There was a great deal of curiosity as to whether or not the live show would live up to the buzz surrounding the recently released Zonoscope record (frequently a question, fair or not, with band's who have a heavy electronic sound in their music).

Those concerns were, without a doubt, completely put to rest.  Cut Copy throws one hell of a party.  The group emerged from a large, white door in the middle of the stage, tweaked their instruments, started playing & poured on the energy and did not stop until the last note was played.

The lead singer / keyboardist was the grand master of the party - hair flying all over the place as he somehow managed to jump all over, sing and play the keys.

There was a copious amount of flashing lights, a throbbing baseline that threatened to both blow out your eardrums and reset your heartbeat, more smoke than I've ever seen at First Ave - and there was so much dancing.

There's been buzz around these guys potentially being the next LCD Soundsystem.  I don't think they need to worry about it.  They should have no problem craving out a well-deserved niche of their own.
