Paul Hobbs has been a force in high quality California wine making for almost four decades. He is also involved in producing incredible wines in Argentina and Chile.
Recently he has created a new brand in California, Cross Barn by Paul Hobbs. These wines are exceptional and at prices that are very affordable for this quality of wine.
Cross Barn, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, 2013 is light golden yellow. It has aromas of wild flowers, lemon, cut grass and some tropical fruits. The palate is filled with tart citrus up front with tropical fruit and Granny Smith apple close behind. The finish has nice crisp acidity on the medium finish. This wine is very food friendly, pair it with lime marinated chicken and oven roasted chicken.
The Cross Barn, Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley, 2012 is rich ruby red in the glass. It has an intense fruit nose with plenty of strawberry an cherry, backed by vanilla and light baking spices. The palate has tart cherry and raspberry with stewed fruit and tangy acidity on the back end. Light smooth tannins lead to a medium finish. Enjoy the Anderson Valley Pinot Noir with roasted pork loin with peach sauce.
Paul Hobbs’ Cross Barn, Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast, and Pinot Noir 2012 is a rich garnet red. Aromas of dark red berries and strawberry while the background is filled with vanilla and coconut. The rich palate is filled with dark berries, especially blackberry and raspberry. The mid palate is filled with spicy notes and nice acidity. The mouth watering tannins lead to a long finish. Enjoy this Cross Barn with pork chops fresh off the grill. I would also enjoy this with some bbq chicken.
Paul Hobbs shows his versatility with his Cross Barn wines. They deserve a place in your cava to enjoy with friends.
