Let me start by saying that I was not a fan of Crocs. As a longtime shoe enthusiast, I appreciate shoes’ unique styles and features, the way a cute flat can transform an outfit or a heel can elongate a leg and make you feel empowered. I didn’t see that potential in Crocs. Until now.
Crocs, Inc. has introduced a new spring/summer collection consisting of fashionable styles, ranging from slip-on sneakers and flats to strappy flip flops and wedges, that look nothing like the traditional Croc. The best part: they are all $54.99 or less.
Wondering if Crocs’ legendary comfort was compromised for these new looks, I test-wore the Leigh Wedge, the collection’s highest-heeled shoe featuring linen and leather straps and Crocs’ signature rubber sole. I put it to the test, running errands throughout the day and attending a barbecue in the evening.
The shoe held up to its name. Small, raised beads in the shoe’s interior provided a massage-like effect each time I took a step, and the adjustable straps prevented chafing. The hard rubber heel provided stability, so I didn’t have the “I’m-about-to-fall-off-my-shoe” sensation other wedges sometimes give. On top of it all, I received compliments throughout the day on my “cute” wedges and a “No way!” when I mentioned they were Crocs.
In short, I’m now a Crocs convert. Styles from this versatile new collection brighten casual outfits during lazy summer days or can be dressed up for evening outings and special events without any worries of throbbing feet by night’s end.
Crocs are sold at Nordstrom, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sports Authority and an array of other retailers throughout the Hartfordarea. Visit the store locator to find the retailer nearest you.
