Sea Dog Brewing company in South Portland, Maine (they also have locations in Topsham and Bangor) is a perfect place to have a family dinner, first date, or a corporate/holiday function. They have an eclectic, yet distinctly New England atmosphere with a nautical theme and a unique Sea Dog Barney art installation designed from beer caps on the wall.
Their menu varies in price from appetizers that cost a few bucks (Warmed pretzel with stone ground spicy mustard made with Sea Dog ale) to a market priced Lobster feast complete with chowder, mussels, and a steamed lobster. For ten bucks you can taste the Mexicali Wonton appetizer complete with blackened chicken and a spicy creme filling, or for a few dollars less you can try the hummus martini - a hummus concoction with fresh carrots and cucumber served in a martini glass complemented with pita points.
Every day brings something new and exciting, with updated daily specials and events. For example, Mondays are Mug club Mondays with discounted beers in your very own mug complete with a day long happy hour with 1/2 priced entrees all day. Tuesdays are burger and brew - with a new gourmet burger featured every week. Wednesday's special is called Wine and Wheel- enjoy a complimentary cheese plate with any $6 glass of wine. Thursdays feature a new 'killer cocktail' as well as a jam packed house for karaoke and ladies night starting at 10 pm. There is live music every weekend on Friday nights, ( usually something quiet and low/key lilke a solo acoustic act)
For fifty dollars you can have a regular local experience by becoming a Mug club member which entitles you to a free entree and Sea Dog t-shirt immediately as well as member only rewards like free beer tastings every three months when a new flavor is rolled out. You also accumulate points for every dollar spent and those points earn you appetizers and entrees on the menu (as long as it is not market priced.)
There is a rent-free event room that is wi-fi and conference abled entitled the Compass room that has adequate seating for corporate lunches, rehearsal dinners, and holiday parties.
