'Crawlspace' horror and science fiction make Aussie film fun

Justin Dix, directed, wrote and produced this film which stars; Amber Clayton, Ditch Davey, Eddie Baroo, Peta Sergeant, Fletcher Humphrys and Nicolas Bell.

This is the story of a top-secret base, Pine Gap, underneath the rough territory of the outback of Australia.

When the military loses touch with the facility, a special forces team is sent in to take out the medical and science personal. They are also ordered to kill the patients.

Eve (Amber Clayton), a patient, regains consciousness inside a hallway where a horrible fight has clearly taken place. Soon she is found by the leader of the military special forces team, and they seem to know each other.

One by one, the military members, the scientists and others are brought down by something they are horrified of. One soldier who is afraid of dogs, is attacked and killed by a huge German Shepherd, but no one saw it except her.

The rest of the story has to do with; the paranormal, remote viewing, mutated animals, mind control and several other interesting phenomenon.

The scientists at this facility have been working on some serious brain modifications and now they must reap what they have sown.

This film has a lot going on in a small amount of space and I constantly felt claustrophobic.

There are times when this film reminded me of "Alien" and a few spots that felt like "Resident Evil." Like both of the aforementioned films, "Crawlspace is also a science fiction/horror film.

The acting is top-notch, even though some of the actors don't have much to do or say.

The Australians have been making some great horror films, "Lake Mungo" being one of my favorites.

You can watch "Crawlspace" starting today Jan. 4 on IFC Midnight Cable VOD & Digital Outlets. SundanceNOW, iTunes, Amazon Streaming, XBOX Zune, Playstation Unlimited.
