On “Covert Affairs,” if Teo (Manolo Cardona) wants to kill Henry (Gregory Itzin), why not just let him? After all, Henry is clearly a psycho, and he’s responsible for so many deaths already. But nothing is ever that simple in this fictional CIA world, which took a whole new turn on “Hang Wire,” which aired September 10.
Will Annie save Henry… and Teo?
Henry is out for revenge on the USA Network, and the stars have aligned, so he thinks, to find vengeance against Arthur (Peter Gallagher). In ways, he couldn’t have planned it better himself. When Henry heads out to Copenhagen for an energy conference with Solstar, Teo -- and in turn Annie (Piper Perabo) -- are on his tail. Teo, to kill the man who was responsible for his mother’s death. And Annie, to stop him from what she thinks would be the worst mistake of his life. But why? Because if Teo kills Henry then he’ll really be a fugitive. He really will be the Puma, a terrorist.
Can Calder be trusted?
But while Annie is stupidly saving Henry’s life on “Covert Affairs" "Hang Wire," Auggie (Christopher Gorham) is discovering someone who might be a new ally: Calder Michaels (Hill Harper). All signs are now pointing to Calder actually not working for Henry, strangely enough. For one, he didn’t destroy the flash drive, and actually appears shocked when he sees that Henry Wilcox met with the ALC terrorist group. But can Joan (Kari Matchett) and Auggie really trust him? Or is Calder playing a game all his own?
“I don’t play sides,” Calder tells Auggie, but in the world of spying, it’s impossible to really take a man’s word.
Will Arthur make things right?
Meanwhile, Arthur is trying to right all his wrongs and protect the people he loves best by coming clean with all his secrets, even if that means being charged with money laundering, aiding and abiding, and treason. Yet his very-important-meeting will have to wait. He gets a call from Joan, and he’s off to Germany.
Teo has been shot. But he’s also been framed. While the CIA was able to recover four of the five missing missiles, Henry still has one, and he uses it to take down Solstar executives and the U.S. Undersecretary of Energy. He then “frames” Teo by leaving the missile launcher next to Teo’s prone body. But, because Henry thrives on drama, he lets Annie go and she reaches Teo in time to make their escape. And that’s when Teo gets shot.
Since they can’t go to any hospitals nearby -- guns are illegal in the country, and everyone is looking for Teo -- they go to a German base, where Teo sees his father. And it’s for the last time. While Annie goes back to hunt for Henry yet again, Arthur gets the news. Teo didn’t make it.
This round, yet again, goes to Henry. He’s chipping away at Arthur’s life, all in the name of vengeance. The only question now is, how many more people have to die? And will Henry ever be stopped?
“Covert Affairs” airs on USA Network Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EDT.
