On April 29, country music superstar Josh Turner released his first book "Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood." It includes a foreword by Jase Robertson from the A&E reality television show "Duck Dynasty."
Throughout his career in music, Josh Turner has sold over five million records and he has secured four songs at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. He has been nominated by the Country Music Association (CMA), Academy of Country Music (ACM), as well as the Grammys for his musical work; most impressive is the fact that he has become a member of the hallowed Grand Ole Opry family.
In this book, the reader really gets to know Turner on a somewhat intimate basis, behind the singles, concerts and the albums. In the "Who I Am" chapter, he describes himself as "self-disciplined," "creative," as well as a "man of conviction," among other things. One can also appreciate Turner for being a true family man (a husband to Jennifer and a father to three sons). It is interesting to see the role that his Christian faith has played in his life and how it continues to do so. He also talks about his songwriting process and how important "ideas" are, since they are the "seed the song tree grows from," according to Turner, and rightfully so. He discusses how he first met Jennifer and gives some insights on the key to having a healthy marriage in a demanding music industry (he has been married for ten years already). The personal photos that he includes in his book make it even more authentic and appealing to the reader.
Overall, Josh Turner's new book is a major success. It is warm, informative, inspirational and a pleasant read. The book garners 5 out of 5 stars, and Turner can now add published author to his impressive resume of accomplishments.
