A major snow storm this week didn't stop fans from traveling to the Machine Shop Concert Lounge in Flint for a nearly sold out show of Swedish rockers, In Flames. These guys have been around for over 20 years, have 10 albums out, and have toured the world countless times. They are currently on a 30 date North American tour again, calling it, "Another Year, Another Tour", with special guests Demon Hunter, All Shall Perish & an awesome local Detroit band called Battlecross.
Opening the show were three solid metal performers. Battlecross, who hails from Canton, MI, is currently signed to Metal Blade Records, and is on the 2013 In Flames tour. These guys describe their sound as "Blue Collar Thrash Metal" and have been around for 10 years. They have one hell of singer, killer riffs, and are very entertaining to watch live. They have just been added to the New England Metal Fest 2013 and there are rumors these guys will be on the Rockstar Mayhem Tour this Summer.
All Shall Perish and Christian Rockers Demon Hunter were up next. Both bands entertained the crowd with their thunderous sounds and heavy riffs. A mini circle pit formed and these guys were raging. The energy kept building with each bands performance, and the crowd was really fired up for the final act.
The Machine Shop was packed with some serious In Flames fans. Singer Andres Fridén seemed quite chipper and was very talkative between songs. He joked with the crowd, calling this "The Facial Hair Tour" as all the bands seemed to be sporting serious beards. Fridén commented that they were just a lil' old band from Sweden, who don't really care how they look, but "We are Sexy!" Friden commented that the band has been in the studio, working on another new album, in which the crowd roared with enthusiasm! The band performed a powerful, intimate set of 16 songs.
