This past Saturday, January 5th, KTL Shoe Bar commenced for business in a big way. KTL Shoe Bar is the brain child of Karen Cocoa Lewis, and offers avant-garde style shoes but at budget friendly prices. The grand opening celebration featured a mixer style fashion show, vendors, and to the delight of its attendees, an open bar. Here are the highlights and lowlights of the evening.
The biggest highlight of the event was absolutely the fashion show hosted by Vonyetta of Columbia’s Hot 103.9 FM. The showcase gave attendees not only the opportunity to view the product line, but also inspiration as to how to wear them. The models were styled by up and coming celebrity stylist, Stefon Allen, and he definitely added his flair to the look of the show.
Another plus of the evening was the open bar. Not only was this a gracious offering to guest, it was also a smart business ploy. What a great way to get shoppers to open their wallets and purses and spend cash.
Also worth mentioning were the celebrity guests of the evening. Bianca Richardson of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 13 and Austin Maxfield of reality TV show Chicagolicious graced the runway and mingled among the crowd. Michael McCluney of male R&B group Day 26 was also in the building.
The event was an overall hit. However, two minor misses for the evening were the vendor presence and the name tags. Guest didn’t really pay much attention to either.
Collectively, this event rightfully earned 4 stars.
