If you are in the mood for a nice cold brew and a tasty cheeseburger, you gotta check out Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers. There are two locations, one in Old Town Scottsdale, and one up in North Scottsdale. I was able to check out Friday night happy hour at the Old Town location. It's easy to find if you are driving downs Scottsdale Road, just look for the large front patio filled with tables, as well as a couple large couch areas. The bar is centered in the middle of the space, where the front wall opens up to let the outside in. It's also adorned with several TV's for a great Sunday-funday for those of you who might enjoy sports (just sayin). But I tell you what.....it ain't the decor you are going for....it's the BURGERS baby!
If you have been following my posts/articles, you know that I have been following a strict Paleo diet, eating very healthy, while doing Crossfit. But there are days (I try to have one cheat day) that I just crave something. Sometimes it's pizza, sometimes it's Chinese, or whatever. My girlfriend just happen to be going to this new place (just opened in July) and I thought, "I would LOVE a burger right now." I scooped up a friend and we headed over.
Ravenous for a burger, I jumped on the menu. But first, a beer please. I am not much of a beer drinker, but it seemed appropriate at this place. I asked my friend, knowledgable in the beer department and what I like, and he recommended the Lefthand Stout. They have over 30 different beers to choose from. Then, I dove into the menu. The happy hour menu isn't much, but there are a few apps on there. But I was going for a burger. Not wanting to kill myself, my friend and I decided to split one. We ordered the Steakhouse Truffle Burger, which comes with.......wait for it.......caramelized onions, applewood smokehouse bacon, baby greens, garlic aioli, thyme roasted potatoes, white truffle oil, gruyere cheese, and herb butter on a soft wheat bun. There is even the option for no bun, or On the side, we ordered sweet potato tots. YUM!!! You cook your burger to order. I ordered medium which leave it a bit pink int he middle. Can I just say it was by far one of the best burgers I have had in a long, long time. Everything about it was delicious. Even the honey mustard dressing I ordered on the side to dip the tots in was awesome. Everything was full of amazing flavor.....all taken in with a tasty brew in a fun atmosphere.
Other menu items include sandwiches, 100% beef jumbo hot dogs, salads, tot-chos (like nachos but with tater tots...whoa), wings and sliders, along with several burger options (obviously). I seriously can't wait until I need to have a burger again. But don't take my word for it. Go check this place out for yourself.
