Cocaineros Duel is the first novel by award-winning columnist John J. Gilmore and it’s jam-packed with action and adventure! Drugs, murder, and international intrigue appear at every turn as we are instantly propelled into the fast-paced world of the Costa Rican drug cartel. From the moment we’re introduced to Frank Reardon, retired cop from Bridgeport, Connecticut we feel an instant connection to this wounded soul. Reardon is strong, independent and carrying a huge chip on his shoulder. He has quickly become one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Gilmore creates his characters based on offbeat people he meets in his travels which is why we can so easily identify with them!

For Frank Reardon, life in Costa Rica was quiet and uneventful until he became a suspect in a young woman’s murder! Believed to have known her when he was younger, Frank discovers it’s a case of mistaken identity and begins a search of his own to find his real friend. With the help of his new friend Eddie, another ex-pat, and his faithful junkyard dog Dutch, together they embark on the most dangerous search and rescue mission of their lives. To make matters worse, they will need to go head-to-head with Costa Rica’s most dangerous and powerful drug lord in order to call this mission a success. But will Frank and Eddie’s connections in Washington D.C. get to them before Mendoza’s men finish them off? Gilmore’s first novel will leave you wondering how fast you can get your hands on the next book in the series!

Cocaineros Duel was published in December 2010 by Mainly Murder Press and is available for purchase through Mainly Murder Press, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, both in print and in eform, several Connecticut libraries and the Rainy Faye Bookstore in Bridgeport (CT).

John’s second installment of the Frank Reardon series is tentatively called, Murder at the Barnum Museum. No release date has yet been scheduled. He belongs to several local writing organizations and many of his publications have appeared in Penworks, Vermont Ink, and From Quality Street where they’ve won numerous awards.

JJ Gilmore was born and raised in New York City and now lives with his wife Mary in Stratford, Connecticut. He spends a great deal of time in Vermont where his roots trace back more than 200 years. Former Connecticut Post newspaper reporter and editor, his first byline story was about a gruesome family murder scene, and a career in crime writing was born.
