Ciacci Piccolomini Montecucco Sangiovese, 2008, Tuscany, IT

Ciacci Piccolomini Montecucco Sangiovese, 2008, Tuscany, IT is dark red in the glass and comes in at 14.5%abv. This Tuscan wine is 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 5% Syrah. It has aromas of cherry and slate. The palate comes alive with blueberry, cherry and strawberry, along with floral notes from dark cacao and violets. The syrah does add some spicy notes on the medium finish and its tannins are smooth. This wine would be perfect for roasted chicken with hearty roasted root vegetables. Also pork loin with a berry sauce that is not too sweet work well with the berry flavors this wine has.
