Chris Sligh Concert

Chris Sligh is probably still known for his thick curly hair as seen on Season 6 of American Idol. But many of us know him as a rising star on the Christian Radio circuit. His mega hit "Empty Me" will hold a place in the Christian music world for many years if not eternity. It is an amazing song.

Chris has performed in the Marylalnd area several times including the latest Newsboys concert two weeks ago in Columbia at Bridgeway Community Church. Chris puts on a great show and truly loves getting the crowd involved in his songs. We all could sing along to songs like "Empty Me" but there were several that he would warm us up for and then have the crowd join in for the fun part of the chorus.

Before the concert started, my group went out to check out the tshirts. There were two ladies and a tall thin dark haired man working at Chris Sligh's merchandise table. I was looking for a 3XL shirt (which are extremely hard to find at any concert) and was sweetly teasing that I was hoping Chris' group out of everyone would offer bigger sizes. The tall thin man let me in on a secret that Chris wears a 2XL! Oh did I have a bit of egg on my face as we stood there laughing and smiling. We bought some stuff and went on to enjoy the show. Little did I know that the great salesman was Chris' brother who plays in the band!

After the concert I got the chance to meet Chris and quickly chat with him. As you can see in the photo, I have a tattoo based on the concept of "empty me of me so I can be filled with you." The verse closest to this concept is found in John 3:30 where the Bible says "He must become greater; I must become less". We only chatted for a moment or so but he was just so genuine and down to earth. He was calm, cool and collected. Chris Sligh was a shining example of a man of God. Even on his YouTube video, you can see he is just a really great guy. The background music is the chorus to his new song, "Only You Can Save."

Buy the album, download the songs, and be sure to see him in concert when he next comes your way on tour!
