Chris Isaak loves to make music. He was inspired by Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and others. These people knew how to write music and perform for the crowds. Chris Isaak is truly doing what he loves.
Last night, Chris Isaak performed at the Hudson Gardens and Event Center in Littleton, Colorado and this had to be the most spectacular stage setup I have ever seen. Chris held nothing back for this set up. With six spotlights set up on the back of the stage floor and the many lights that are normally around the stage, this show was anything but a bore.
The Hudson Gardens and Event Center fans were entertained by six talented musicians who have stayed together for close to 30 years. When Chris Isaak first made the charts it was with his song “Wicked Games”. But unlike many musicians who just cling to that one chart topping song, Chris Isaak knew he needed more than just one song to keep him on the charts. His repertoire along with songs by Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and many of his own originals this show was the bomb.
Chris held the audience captive and they loved it as he sang, played and joked with the crowd. He did his first three songs (“Gone Ridin”, “Somebody’s Crying” and “I Believe”) on the stage but then songs 4-7 he was in the crowd walking around, singing, taking selfies with audience members, shaking hands, giving hugs. Chris Isaak is a rare breed that is not afraid to say thank you to his fans.
The show was not all about Chris but included something spectacular from each of his band members. He made sure that each one of them got their time to shine in the spotlight as well.
The Hudson Gardens and Event Center brought a true showman to their venue and as people expect to get their monies worth, these fans got that and more. Chris Issak is a consummate pro relying on singing prowess, a very polished stage and a palpable respect for his audience. This is music that has proven time and time again because of its style will be around for years to come.
