I had only to read the synopsis on the back of the DVD for 'Chop' to buy it. It talks about a guy named Lance, who gets abducted and has his limbs systematically amputated by a stranger because of a past event.
In an extreme attempt at memory jogging, the self same stranger picks Lance up on a mountain road after his car breaks down, and then abducts him via tranquilizer dart.
What happens after this is not only funny, but really interesting.
From being forced to plan an ax in his brother's head, to waking up periodically to find a new limb missing, Lance finds that his life takes one extreme turn after another in a very short period of time.
This is a 'b' film, but neither the story, nor the acting in it suffer from what can be occasional 'b' film foiables. The sound on the DVD is a little garbled in some places, but that is the biggest criticism I can find.
The performances all around are top notch.
Big kudos go to Timothy Muskatell as the stranger. His acting was flawless and a total joy to behold.
The story is really cool, and funny in places you might not think it should be.
I'm not going to ruin any of the plot turns here. Suffice to say they are mostly welcomed, and when the reason for the stranger's ilk is revealed, it is something that will have you shaking your head. Whether or not you are smiling when you do it, I cannot say.
I know I was.
One thing to look for is a very quick cameo by Camille Keaton of 'I Spit on Your Grave' fame.
