Season Three starts off with Nurse McMurphy (Dana Delany) and K.C. Kolowski (Marg Helgenberger) being held hostage in a maze of tunnels by the Viet Cong. The Vietnamese expect McMurphy to perform surgery on their leader. This sets the tone for the rest of the season. In other with these two women becoming allies opens up many a story line to be followed since these women are completely opposite.

'China Beach' is the story of the 510th Evacuation Hospital and R and R facility. It looks at the lives of the nurses, doctors, and soldiers and how they handled the stress of combat and their surroundings. The show also allowed us to see how the men and women who served in Vietnam were treated when they cam home. This show didn't hold back and allowed the sordid mess of war to come into your living room once a week. 'China Beach' allowed us to see the competitiveness between men and women when McMurphy goes up against a marine in a drinking contest.

'China Beach' also showed us how we can form relationships during this time and how we react when our friends die in battle. In season three guests stars were easy to come by. People like Vince Vaughn, Tom Sizemore, Thomas Haden, Don Cheadle, Helen Hunt and Wings Hauser just to name a few were glad to be on this high quality show.

'China Beach' loved to bring the times and songs together and they had some of the best like Somebody to Love, Respect, Sunshine of Your Love, and Brown Eyed Girl. These were songs from the day and they fit so well in the story or scene. 'China Beach' did a great job of portraying the 60's for what they were. They were a time of change.

StarVista is bringing the Complete Season Three of 'China Beach' to us on May 6, 2014. The quality of sound and visual make this a DVD that would go nicely in your DVD library. So sit back and take a look at what it was like to be stationed in Vietnam. Enjoy.
