Chez Billy is has a lovely atmosphere, with individual lighting for each table, clean and rustic tables, and a Parisian aura. The restaurant is a welcome addition to the Petworth neighborhood, which could use some upscale dining options.
Open your evening at Chez Billy with a tasty cocktail; albeit expensive they are elegant, hand-crafted beverages worth sampling. Take advantage of the bread basket, and any seasonal specials they may have. Their summertime tomato and mozzarella salad is a dream, with gorgeous sliced tomatoes, fragrant basil, soft mozzarella cheese and a sweet homemade tomato jam that is perfect for slathering on their hearty French bread.
Entrees are less exciting; the gnocchi is overly perfumed with too many herbs and flavors, and the texture leaves much to be desired. Service is also not perfect, with forgetful wait staff. But ultimately, the experience is a positive one. Even if all of your dishes don’t meet your expectations, the drinks and atmosphere make up for it.
Enjoy an evening with a significant other at Chez Billy, but be prepared to drop some cash!
