Red wines from the Bordeaux region of France are among the world's best but often come with a price tag that have many running for the hills. The French will tell you that all of the good and affordable Bordeaux wines are drank locally, by locals. However, the 2009 Chateau Mylord shows that occasionally a well-priced example from a great vintage does make it out of the country!

In the glass this wine has a classic Cherry and Ruby red color. On the nose the aroma displays plenty of dark berry fruits, a touch of vanilla and strangely even hints of oak despite the fact that 'Cuvée' translates to 'tank/vat'. This suggests, but not proves, that this wine did not spend any time in oak barrels. The wine drinks very well and displays plenty of ripe dark berry fruit and currants. Acid and tannin levels are also well balanced and while this wine has been made to drink now I actually think it will last a few years longer than intended.

If you were on a budget and wanting to try a red wine from Bordeaux this would have to be the wine to get! Available at Wally's Wine for $17.99
