Not to steal the thunder from the President of the United States and his inauguration, but the celebration of another great man in history was honored in the city of Jacksonville Florida with a parade and a Gospel Fest. That person was the prestigious Dr. Martin Luther King whose birthday was on Jan. 15th. On the day that we celebrate his birth, January 21st, there was a parade in downtown JAX to commemorate that wonderful day.
Since Monday was a national holiday, PURE radio and the MLK Foundation presented numerous gospel vocalists along with the headliner – Ms CeCe Winans, at this year’s MLK Gospel Fest 2013. You can take a look at the talent that Jacksonville has along with shots of CeCe and PURE radio’s top notch DJ’s Terry & Terry (Pastor Terry L Hill Jr. and Ms Terry Ann Robinson), in the Slide Show presentation above.
The entire event lasted about four hours and demonstrated that Jacksonville has got talent. Among the participants were: Anointed, Bethel Baptist Church Praise Team, Sabrina “Bre” Belton, Tikki Pickett, Chris Epps, New Feed, Uncle Reese, Maurice Griffin, BTL Clark and a few others.
Mayor Alvin Brown was on hand to introduce Ms. Winans to the stage and remind the people of the importance in celebrating Dr. King on this special day.
CeCe Winans is as beautiful in-person as you see her on TV and her numerous album covers. Her voice is unmistakable and she is anointed to sing and to preach the Gospel. If for some reason you could not attend, make plans to come to the event next year.
