CD Review - Weeping Silence : For The Unsung (Ravenheart Records)

Very seldom does new music come out that really captivates me. But when it does it really goes for the throat. I give it my all to listen and dive in to it and really feel the music. Well this is one of them. I was talking with Mario Ellul, guitarist for Weeping Silence and he reached out to see if I would check out his new material. Of course I would, any artist that reaches out to me to ask for my thoughts on their music would be an honor to do so, as I have done for over a decade. Unsure what I was in for but with an open ear and eye I checked out their latest efforts from their CD "For The Unsung," and watched their video for Love Lies. I was extremely impressed. This band from Malta had all the components to be a strong band. They have the looks, the vibe, the comfort zone, and all seemed to have a strong chemistry between them all.

I felt like I had an attachment to them. I asked Mario to send me over some of their material to check out. For The Unsung came my way. I was like a kid in a candy store. Track after track of the doom/goth metal really struck a chord in my head. "Love Lies Bleeding" is an extremely smooth track which bellows the orchestrated doom vibe with the overlaying of sweet vocally melodic tones. "Disillusioned" comes right out of the gate with a strong double bass and heavy rifff. The vocals amplifies the style of the entire release. The vocals are extremely strong in this track. The background vocals of the growls adds a texture to the song. "Your Darkest Hour" seems like their anthem song. A strong captivating song that delivers.

Overall: If you are into the melodic goth/doom metal band music than give Weeping Silence and listen and follow them. These guys put alot into their music and it shows. 4/5 Stars
